DOUBT
In a Catholic school in America, the principal, Sister Aloysius, begins to suspect that the school’s priest may have committed a crime. There is no direct evidence, but the question of Father Flynn’s guilt continues to grow. Doubt erodes those involved, as it becomes impossible to discern where the truth lies and whom to trust. Can suspicion without proof be grounds for action? Is silence as dangerous as a false accusation?
“In my opinion, this work is highly relevant today, considering we live in an age where a single anonymous letter can, if not destroy, then at least severely damage a person’s reputation. Society tends to condemn and trust the first, loudest opinion, even though sometimes things are not at all what they seem at first glance,” says director Toms Treinis.
