THELMA AND LOUISE
Two friends – an unhappy housewife and an independent shopkeeper – decide to escape for a few days from their tedious home life, away from equally tedious and violent husband, boyfriend, and their predictable needs. On their journey, both women, defending their female freedom, involuntarily commit a crime, and a desperate escape begins. The people they meet along the way are a reflection of today’s society.
With two actresses like Elīna Vāne and Ieva Puķe in the theater, it’s impossible not to stage this story. “I love it! It’s a situation where one begins to understand the meaning of the word freedom,” says director Juris Rijnieks.
Director Ridley Scott’s film Thelma & Louise hit the screens in 1991, making it the ideal road movie.
