About the performance

Set in 1985, the production follows three seventeen-year-old friends – Andrejs, Vizma and Uģis – whose lives are changed by the legendary rock band Pērkons and its infamous concert in Ogre. As they search for their place in the world, they struggle with family expectations, the restrictions of the Soviet regime and an ever-growing longing for freedom. The music of Pērkons becomes the emotional driving force of the story.

With humor, irony and emotional honesty, the production portrays everyday life in the final years of the Soviet era and a society on the brink of change. It speaks both to those who experienced the period and to younger generations seeking to understand it.
